How to create a MySQL database

Most apps, including WordPress, need a database. The WordPress installer creates one for you, but you can also create one yourself.

cPanel › Databases › Database Wizard

1. Log in to cPanel.
2. In the Databases section, click Database Wizard.
3. Enter a name for the database and click Next Step.
4. Create a database user with a strong password and click Create User.
5. Tick ALL PRIVILEGES and click Next Step.

Your database name and username start with your cPanel username and an underscore. Use the full names in your app’s settings, with localhost as the database host.

To view or edit the data in your database, use phpMyAdmin in the Databases section. Take a database backup before making changes.

Can’t find it? Type the tool’s name into the search box at the top of cPanel.
